This Year I Survived

2018 was a hectic year of transition for me. When I became a mom in October of 2017 I obviously knew the way I lived and worked would change.  Little did I know that learning to balance mom-life and work-life would be harder than I thought it would be. I wouldn’t have survived without the amazing support of my family and a healthy dose of acceptance.  While I didn’t do as well as I would have liked in many areas (remember, I’m a perfectionist in recovery), I have come to recognize that I cannot do it all and it is totally okay to ask for help when and how you need to.

I am by nature a planner and I’m pretty sure that having an infant was God’s way of saying, “sorry sis, but remember those plans you made? Yeah, go ahead and forget about those because I have other plans for you.” From surprise sick days to nights on end without sleep, this year I’ve learned that while you should have goals, nothing is more important to me than being Addison’s mama. This year I’ve fallen behind on emails and calls multiple times.   In the past I would have lost my mind over it, but now, I know that we can’t take a single day for granted. I’ll get to those emails, calls, dishes, laundry and all the things when I can.

Next Year I’ll Thrive

Looking forward to 2019, I’m excited for two things in particular. First, I am ecstatic to be hiring additional full-time staff at Warrenwood.  This has been a goal of mine for years and it’s finally happening! I’m excited to have fresh ideas and perspectives around to make Warrenwood the best it can be.  I’m ready to be able to do more, be more and try new things.

I’m also really excited to refocus in 2019.  Hiring additional staff will free my mind to work on my business and not in my business. I’ve always been super driven with ideas that most people would laugh at and tell me I can’t achieve. I may not accomplish all of them and I most certainly won’t accomplish them as fast as I’d like, but I’m looking forward to giving it my all in 2019.  I have dreams of further expansion, maybe even opening another business, who knows! But, what I do know is that I’m excited to work with new people, to continue to dream, and to achieve things even greater than my wildest dreams with those that I love.
