Genevieve & Jeff hosted their romantic spring wedding at Warrenwood on May 11, 2019. It was equal parts casual and classic with a touch of pastel floral whimsy. Genevieve was bursting with excitement while Jeff calmly enjoyed every moment of their special day. These two created a wedding uniquely them with well-planned design elements like their stunning ceremony backdrop.

Genevieve, tell us your story…
Jeff and I met through an advertising club in Lexington and got engaged at Disney. We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and he proposed privately on our first day about an hour and a half after we checked in. It was likely the most incredibly romantic trip to Disney that I’ll ever have!
Genevieve, tell us about your wedding day…
Where did you gather inspiration from for your wedding day?
Pinterest and Instagram. I followed a lot of accounts to get an idea for what I wanted and kept a Pinterest board for Jeff to review and give input. We planned it ourselves and only used a coordinator for the day-of, so it was a lot of work on the weekends. Jeff designed the invites and signage, so it was a true labor of love.
Why did you choose to have your wedding at Warrenwood Manor?
We love the setting at Warrenwood. It’s not too far away from Lexington and it’s simply beautiful. We were so thankful to have our original plan come to life and to have our ceremony outside right before it drizzled that day. The staff at Warrenwood was so helpful and accommodating, too.
What were you most excited about on your wedding day?
I was so excited to marry my sweet husband and celebrate with our closest friends and family.
In what ways did you personalize your wedding day?
Jeff designed signage for the venue and between Jeff, my Mom and I, we planned and selected every detail and tried to personalize it in every way possible.
Of all of the beautiful moments of your wedding day, which do you cherish the most?
Everyone told me that reading our vows would be special, but I didn’t realize how special it really is until I was doing it.
What advice would you give to a newly engaged couple starting the wedding planning process?
Be nice to your Mom, even when she drives you crazy. This is a special moment for her, too, so make sure she feels loved and appreciated every step of the way.
Is there anything else you think our readers need to know about you, your wedding, or your experience?
Your venue sets the tone of the entire day and it’s so important to work with a venue that you trust. We loved working with Warrenwood from the day we set our date to the day we said, “I do”.
What have you been up to since your wedding day?
We built a house! It’s pretty insane that we were planning a wedding and building a house at the same time, but if we can get through that level of stress together, we can get through anything! We are building a life and love for the ages. We want to be the mushy old people holding hands in their 80s!
