Sydney, tell us your story…

TELL US YOUR LOVE STORY!

Dusty and I are high school sweethearts. He was my middle school crush and I finally stole him up freshman year of high school. After high school, we both attended Georgetown College where we both graduated. He proposed our Junior year.

TELL US YOUR ENGAGEMENT STORY!

Our engagement story is a dream. Our junior year spring break, we knew it would be our last. We were both graduating early that December so we decided to do an intimate vacation with our two best friends, which so happen to date. We decided to disembark on a cruise leaving from Ft. Lauderdale. My best friend, Claire helped Dusty plan the whole thing. Little did I know, Dusty rode all the way to Ft. Lauderdale with the ring in his jacket pocket. On the cruise, we had two formal dinner nights. The last formal dinner night was the night Claire told me she was going to dress very nicely. So, I dressed up in a white dress not knowing what was about to happen. We headed downstairs for pictures on the lit-up bridge that was in the center of the cruise ship. This is where Dusty got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever.

Sydney, tell us about planning your charming southern wedding…

What are three words you would use to describe the style of your wedding day? How would you describe the feeling?

Three words to describe the style: Southern, bold, and charming.

To describe the feel:  Southern warm hospitality

Where did you gather inspiration from for your wedding day?

I gathered inspiration from bridal magazines and social media like Instagram. I stayed away from Pinterest because Pinterest can give very unrealistic expectations and you could go way too crazy with the help of Pinterest.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at Warrenwood Manor?

Warrenwood felt like home to us the minute we walked on site. Who knew, we would fall in love with the venue on a rainy day, but it was just as beautiful as it is on a sunny day. Brittany made us feel so welcome and so at home that we knew Warrenwood was the place for us. We knew we wanted a historic home for our wedding and the house was a dream. Brittany and her staff were so organized and were there to answer any question I had, no matter how crazy it was. Their hospitality was like no other and helped seal the deal for us. Warrenwood was a place for us to celebrate our marriage with our closest friends and family.

What were you most excited about on your wedding day?

Reading my vows to Dusty. We decided to handwrite our vows and read them aloud during the ceremony. This was so special to me and I couldn’t wait to vow my love for Dusty.

In what ways did you personalize your wedding day?

I wanted every detail to be sentimental and personal to both of us. We personalized the color based on our favorite time of the year, spring/summer. We chose a color palette that was a light summery dream, incorporating blush, pale blue, hints of sunshine yellow, and gold accents. We also incorporated these colors into our watercolor painted wedding crust. My love for succulents was integrated also. Succulents made an appearance in all bouquets, boutonnieres, and wedding favors. Lastly, we love a good trip to McDonald’s and wanted to give our guests this love as well. For the midnight snack, we chose my favorite and his favorite McDonald’s menu items, cheeseburgers and McChickens. Our wedding couldn’t have been more true to who we are.

Of all of the beautiful moments of your wedding day, which do you cherish the most?

I cherish vowing my love for Dusty in front of friends and family and then having them celebrate us so hard after.

What was the funniest thing that happened on your wedding day?

Let me just say I have joints of an old lady. 1st, I rolled my ankle walking down the aisle leaving the ceremony. This was of course caught on camera and video but somehow made such a beautiful picture of us laughing walking down the aisle. Then, as Dusty dips me during sparkle send-off, my knee popped out of place ending on the side of my leg. I was barely able to walk following this. Talk about embarrassing. This was also captured on camera. I am sitting in a chair with an ice pack on my knee and I look so miserable haha.

What advice would you give to a newly engaged couple starting the wedding planning process?

Do not get bogged down on the little details and enjoy every minute of the planning process no matter how stressful it can be. You will look back and miss this time of your life.

What is something about your wedding that you thought you would care about, but ended up not?

All the little details like real china, etc. I loved how beautiful it made the tablescape look; however, nobody remembers little details like this except you!

Is there anything else you think our readers need to know about you, your wedding, or your experience?

Your wedding day is unlike any other. Enjoy every minute of it because it goes by so fast. No matter how many people tell you that it goes fast, nobody can ever prepare you for the emotions you feel on your wedding day. Live in the moment during this time of your life because I promise it is so so special.

What have you been up to since your wedding day?

We are preparing to buy our first home. I am also going back to school to become a hygienist.

What are you most excited about when it comes to your future together?

BABIESSS. I can not wait to start a family together.
