This romantic summer wedding was the perfect combination of natural and elegant style with nothing but love and laughter all day! Emily & Jason celebrated their wedding on Sunday with all their favorite people. It was perfect!

Emily, tell us your story…

TELL US YOUR LOVE STORY!

Jason and I met in 2013 through mutual friends at the University of Kentucky. We casually hung out throughout that year, but were both in different places at that time…. Fast forward to the Summer of 2017, Jason was living in Anniston, Alabama, and I, in Nashville. Jason was coming to Nashville to “visit his Uncle Kevin” an awful lot. He always found an excuse for us to get together, get brunch, watch a game, or rooftop hop through Downtown. We were both living for the weekends, laughing, eating, and getting to know each other again. Jason and I went to the hottest Titans game of the season that year, August 19th, to be exact. Because of the heat, we left early and headed to Joe’s Crab Shack. We ordered a bucket of crab legs and shrimp to split and went to town- bibs and all. The waitress came around midway through, and Jason ordered us another round… of crab legs. In that moment, I knew I was going to marry this goofy, adventurous, sports-loving, spontaneous, loyal, and loving man.

Fast forward another year and 3 dogs later 🙂 I finally got to marry the man of my dreams.

TELL US YOUR ENGAGEMENT STORY!

Jason saved and saved, changed careers, and moved back home, and saved. In the meantime, I had formed a small brain trust group (Emily’s sister and I) about how I was going to do it. It was all but certain that I was going to propose to her at one of the spots we bonded at Newsom’s Mill in Nashville, a place where Emily, Rachael, and I would kayak to when we wanted to waste a summer day together.

The ring was finally purchased and the plan was approved by the brain trust. Now it was time for execution…..

A week before the planned date, Emily was already off to an incredible start to the worst week of her life. Things were not going well at work, stressed out by the burden of two unruly dogs, and she could not understand why our conversations about the future together had ceased. On top of this, the weather was getting cold… very cold.

So on a chilly Saturday morning, we kayaked the Little Harpeth on our way to Newsom’s Mill. It was cold, I was more nervous than I had ever been, and I wanted to make Emily happy. Upon arrival, I walked her over to a beautiful oak tree, dropped to one knee, and asked my best friend to marry me. She said yes. I have pictures, taken by her closest friends who were in on the secret, to prove it.

Emily, tell us about planning your wedding…

What are three words you would use to describe the style of your wedding day? How would you describe the feeling?

Natural & Romantic

Where did you gather inspiration from for your wedding day?

We really pulled from the beauty and elegance of Warrenwood. Wanted lots of natural colors and decor, showcasing everything around us.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at Warrenwood Manor?

Emily fell in love with the cottage door at Warrenwood the first photo she saw, the first summer they were open. Looooong before Jason was even in the picture. It was the only venue we toured, and it was even better in person!

What were you most excited about on your wedding day?

My dress!!! Getting married, celebrating with all our friends and families!

In what ways did you personalize your wedding day?

Lots of pictures! Made ‘fat heads’ of our 3 dogs for the photo booth (huge hit). We both lost our grandfathers the year during the planning process, so making sure we had a memory table to showcase this was very important.

Of all of the beautiful moments of your wedding day, which do you cherish the most?

Our ceremony was very special and personal. A friend of Jason’s performed it and really did a fantastic job.

What was the funniest thing that happened on your wedding day?

We had a rogue flower girl that refused to go down the aisle and hid in a bush outside the house the whole time.

What advice would you give to a newly engaged couple starting the wedding planning process?

Spend your money on what matters to YOU. Don’t stress about things you can’t control.

Is there anything else you think our readers need to know about you, your wedding, or your experience?

Go with a planning package! It helps IMMENSELY with the smoothness of the day.

What have you been up to since your wedding day?

Jason just got a new job in Paducah and we moved to land between the lakes area, excited to spend the summer at the lake!

What are you most excited about when it comes to your future together?

Just living life! Exploring, learning, growing together.
