30 Questions for Your Bartender

Megan & Andrew tied the knot on the perfect fall day in Kentucky. Megan planned a day filled with all the classic glam elements a girl could dream of. Their heartfelt ceremony was in the backyard in front of the cottage before they celebrated with a reception in the barn. In this post, meet the couple and see all the love of their wedding day!

Meet the Couple – Bride & Groom

The Bride – Megan is the senior manager at The Cheesecake Factory. She is from Dayton, Ohio, but went to the University of Kentucky.

The Groom – Andrew is the assistant general manager at Sports and Social Club. He is from Lexington, Kentucky, and played football at Eastern Kentucky University.

Honeymoon LocationSandals, Ochos Rios, Jamaica

First Dance Song – “Then” by Brad Paisley… we just named our new puppy Paisley after him!

Favorite Date NightWe LOVE going to UK sporting events.

Megan, tell us your story…

TELL US HOW YOU MET!

Andrew and I met while working at The Cheesecake Factory in Lexington in 2015. We went on our first date on Valentine’s Day to Texas Roadhouse and to see a movie.

TELL US YOUR ENGAGEMENT STORY!

Andrew proposed on top of Vail Mountain on December 18, 2017, while we were skiing and snowboarding! Vail, Colorado is one of our favorite places, so it was very special to share that moment together doing what we love!

Megan, tell us about planning your wedding…

What are three words you would use to describe the style of your wedding day? How would you describe the feel?

Perfect, relaxed, beautiful! It was truly, the most beautiful day. It was sunny and 70 degrees and the leaves had just started changing color. It made a spectacular setting. Kentucky is something special in the fall and all of those elements came together along with my vision. We wouldn’t have changed a thing!

Where did you gather inspiration from for your wedding day?

Pinterest, Keeneland, bridal blogs, bridal magazines, other friends’ weddings.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at Warrenwood Manor?

We loved everything about Warrenwood! My vision was southern class, with a hint of vintage and there wasn’t another venue that worked with the ideas that I had been dreaming about! The bridal and grooms’ suites were PERFECT for us to get ready. The barn is a beautiful space and had just the right amount of space for our guests. We also had our rehearsal dinner in the house the night before which was beautiful! It made the whole planning process a lot less stressful when everything was in one place for our guests. The team at Warrenwood was extremely friendly and accommodating. Every single detail was perfectly executed and they were very knowledgeable.

What were you most excited about on your wedding day?

Celebrating with our friends and family! One of my best friends from UK surprised me the day before. She and her husband are deployed in Africa and she had told me several months prior that she would be unable to come to our wedding. She found out earlier in the week that she was going to get to come home to Kentucky for one week before deploying with her husband. She kept It a secret so my bridesmaids and myself were completely shocked to see her!

In what ways did you personalize your wedding day?

We actually built a bar that we used at our reception. I made a lot of signs myself and a his/hers cocktail menu. I also made wedding cake scented candles for our guests to take home!

Of all of the beautiful moments of your wedding day, which do you cherish the most?

Andrew and I said a prayer right before our ceremony. We each stood on one side of the door in the bridal suite so that we didn’t see each other! It was a very special moment we shared together before walking down the aisle! Also, my grandma made 5 different wedding cakes for our guests! Eating my grandma’s cake at our wedding was truly the best!

What advice would you give to a newly engaged couple starting the wedding planning process?

HAVE FUN! Sometimes I would find myself stressed and worried. This is the only year in your life that you get to have this experience. Have a blast and learn about your spouse to be. Let him make some decisions too. Ask a million questions and do your research! Listen to your planner/venue managers, they know what they are doing!

What is something about your wedding that you thought you would care about, but ended up not?

I really didn’t want to be a cliche bride and do a bouquet and garter toss… when it got down to it, we made the instant decision to do it and I’m glad that we did- we had a lot of laughs!

What are you most excited about when it comes to your future together?

Growth. It’s so fun to look back and reminisce on where we used to be and where we are now. Growing together and continuing to learn about each other. We are always looking to better ourselves and help other people, it’s fun to share that passion with your best friend.
