30 Questions for Your Bartender

An alcohol-free wedding can be just as lively and fun as those with alcohol. In fact, some of the best dance floor vibes I’ve seen have been at sober celebrations! Your choice to host a dry wedding is valid, regardless of the reason. The key is to plan an event that embraces this choice rather than ignoring the absence of alcohol. By aligning all your plans with your choice, you can create a unique and enjoyable experience for your guests.

Tips for Your Alcohol-Free Wedding:

  1. Guests don’t typically dance as much or as long when sober. Expect a shorter event and plan accordingly. Of course, certain crowds are an exception to this, but this is true in general.
  2. Structure your event space to encourage movement and conversation. You can include high-top tables to gather around and conversational seating areas.
  3. Provide activities to entertain your guests, such as yard games, a photo booth, an interactive guest book, or other unique experiences like a live painter.
  4. Play great music or even have a band! Your song choices will create the mood.
  5. Treat your guests to something interesting to eat or drink, like a fancy mocktail, a specialty drink, a sweet treat, or another culinary experience like a DIY food bar or toppings bar.
  6. Don’t feel constrained by traditional wedding timelines. For instance, you could consider a morning wedding followed by a delightful brunch.
  7. Set the expectations in advance. Let your guests know that there won’t be alcohol, so they won’t expect it.
  8. Consider an old-school dessert reception. Simple events are making a comeback. Your wedding doesn’t have to be an elaborate full-day event. A shorter and/or smaller celebration can be just as special and impactful.
  9. You can save money by skipping bar service or spend that money on aspects of your wedding that are more important to you. Match your spending to your priorities.
